Jobseekers often know exactly what they’re looking for – a specific job role or skill set in a specific location and our search tool has been designed to make sure they can find what they are looking for quickly and easily
Our search technology is based on two key things: relevancy of the keywords used and proximity matching based on the location specified.
Relevancy
Relevancy is how close a match a job is to the keywords used by the jobseeker, and by nature of the IT jobseekers that use CWJobs, they can be very detailed in their keyword searching of jobs listed. The core relevancy engine is based on the world-class Microsoft SQL platform, but we have customised a few elements to enhance the search results for candidates.
Proximity matching
Proximity matching allows jobseekers to specify a location they wish to look for a job in, and can be as detailed as a full post code. Jobseekers can then specify a search radius around that location, and where they don’t a default radius is set.
If no matches are found within the specified radius, it is automatically widened until a match is found up to a maximum radius of 40 miles.
We do not display exact job location on job details to protect agency client confidentiality.
However, it is worth noting that proximity matching will not work for your job unless you specify town level or below when posted a job. The more information you can provide about the location of the job, the greater the chance that it appears in the relevant job result listings and the more applications you will get.
